Mr Ben Knight

Ben Knight was appointed as an NHS consultant surgeon at the Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth in 2014. He specialises in laparoscopic (keyhole) and robotic Oesophago-gastric and Bariatric surgery. He was the first UK surgeon to perform robotic LINX anti reflux surgery and is one of a small number of surgeons routinely performing it using the robotic platform.

A graduate of Manchester medical school, he did his surgical training in the north west of England before heading down under to Australia where he did a two year fellowship in South Australia. During this period he gained experience in Upper GI surgery and also reflux diagnostic testing, specifically Bravo capsule pH testing, a subject on which he has published.

He has a specialist interest in laparoscopic anti-reflux surgery (hiatus hernia) and sees RefluxUK patients in his weekly clinic. He sees patients from across the country, usually by zoom video consultation.

Mr Knight performs LINX anti-reflux surgery both in his private and NHS practice, and is now one of the most prolific LINX surgeons in the country. His private patients have their surgery at the Circle Clementine Churchill Hospital in London.

Mr Knight is validated with the General Medical Council and is a member of the Association of Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeons and Royal College of Surgeons, England. He has an academic interest in Barrett’s Oesophagus and Oesophago-gastric cancer and has authored book chapters and published studies in this area.
